The Waterslide

The water tickles your skin with its warm caress, churned into soothing effervescence by the action of the waterfall . You paddle with the slow eddy towards the shallow outlet. You climb a half-step upward to sit on the moss-slick rock spillway when the water is no longer deep enough to float.

With a slight push-off, the current carries you along the stone chute. As the channel narrows and slope increases, so too does the current... and your speed. Spray and the rush of the wind in your face blurs your vision of the rocks and forest around you, giving you cause to reconsider the wisdom of this shortcut.

The spray suddenly clears as you suddenly no longer feel the slippery chute beneath you. Water no longer pushes or pulls you downward, since it falls through the air ten feet nearer the cliff than you. Your heart rises up into your throat as gravity pulls you down through empty space towards the pool some 25 feet below you. You have just enough time to take a deep breath before the pool catches you in its watery embrace.

With an exhilarating splash, you plunge into the depths of the pool., then rise slowly with the thousands of bubbles surrounding you. Unlike the pool up above, this pool is both deep enough and cool enough for comfortable swimming.

When done swimming, you may easily climb back out next to the path.
