Borak's Ring of Remembrance
This signet ring appears to the casual observer as intricately interlinked wrought gold bands, forged from shimmering metal that somehow still seems to reflect the flames that gave it birth. Crafted from Orichalcum, this ring feels pleasantly warm to the touch. The loops and bends, akin to Celtic knotwork, speak of precisely controlled strength, hint at familiar shapes of letters bordering on recognition yet somehow elude identification.
Auspex or other mystic sight reveals a moderate magickal presence within Borak's ring. Viewed from outside the time-stream, during a Temporis fugue state, jumbled lines of formerly unreadable letters spell out the words "Remember, and Believe".
When worn, this ring incorporates two effects: monitor and self-empowerment.
The monitor effect uses Mind and Life to monitor the wearer's emotional and physiological state for tell-tale signs of rage.
The self-empowerment effect makes use of Time and Entropy to initiate a series of programmed events. Mind creates mental impulses to remind Borak that his emotions are physiological responses based on perception, that Borak - and only Borak - has the power to decide what he feels, that nobody can control Borak's emotions unless he chooses to let them, and asserts Mikkelus' belief in Borak's inner strength and resolve, in his ability to master himself, and gently reminds him of the faith and trust placed in Borak by Mikkelus, Bane, and Azrhey.
The net effect of self-empowerment can take one of two forms. It may either grant one automatic success to resist rage, or allow rolls (ST's discretion) to regain calm. ----- Creation & ST Notes: Borak's Ring is a low-level talisman with an Arete of 3 and a quintessence rating of 45. The ring recharges its energy by successfully encouraging Borak to maintain his self-control and self-determination.
Monitor effects incorporate Life 1, Mind 1; self-empowerment incorporates Time 4, Entropy 2 for the programmed event and Mind 2 for the mental reassurance.
