Souxsie's Ring of Self-Remembrance
This signet ring appears to the casual observer as intricately interlinked wrought gold bands forged from shimmering metal that somehow still seems to reflect the flames that gave it birth woven around a diamond that seems strangely bright, almost gleaming with inner light. Crafted from Orichalcum around a single, living diamond, this ring feels pleasantly warm to the touch. The loops and bends, akin to Celtic knotwork and reflected in the facets of the diamond, hint at familiar shapes of letters bordering on recognition yet somehow elude identification. Something about the geometry and arrangement speaks of self-reflection and of precisely controlled strength.
Auspex or other mystic sight reveals that the ring possesses a moderate presence. Viewed from outside the timestream, during a Temporis fugue state, the jumbled lines of formerly unreadable letters spell out the words "Remember, and Believe".
When worn, this ring incorporates two effects: monitor and self-efficacy.
The monitor effect uses Mind and Life to monitor the wearer's emotional and physiological state for tell-tale signs of rage or loss of self-control.
The self-efficacy effect makes use of Time and Entropy to initiate a series of programmed events. Mind creates a train of thought reminding Souxsie that emotions are physiological responses based on perception, that Souxsie - and only Souxsie - has the power to choose her feelings based on her interpretation of those perceptions, that nobody can control Souxsie's emotions unless she makes a conscious choice to let them, and asserts Mikkelus' belief in Souxsie's inner strength and resolve, in her ability to master herself, and gently reminds her of the faith and trust placed in Souxsie by Mikkelus, Joshua, Carlos, and Sheol.
The net effect of self-efficacy can either grant one automatic success to resist loss or regain self control, allow extra rolls (ST's discretion) to remain calm, or give one automatic success on any WP roll. ----- Creation & ST Notes: Souxsie's Ring is a low-level talisman with an Arete of 3 and a quintessence rating of 45. Monitor effects incorporate Life 1, Mind 1; self-efficacy incorporates Time 4, Entropy 2 for the programmed event and Mind 2 for the mental reassurance.
