The FlatAn affordable and safe place to live, this unimposing building has been many things. In its present incarnation, it serves as economy housing, offering five bachelor flats as well as living quarters for the caretaker. Nobody can recall when the building was constructed, but conservative estimates and surviving tax records place the building at somewhere near 250 years old. In its occasionally colorful history, it has changed hands many times, seeing service as a family house, a boarding house, a bordello, a surplus storage area, an herb shop, and a youth hostel before its current owners renovated it and began renting out the sleeping rooms.
One centrally located door facing the street provides ground-level access to the building. A door on one end of the building, accessible through the garage, is labeled Manager. Bicycles can be seen secured in the patio in front of the building. The narrow street does not permit parking in front of the building, though there is a small garage for the manager at the end of the building
