The Apartment Complex

Unofficially known as the No-Tell California, speculation abounds concerning this unimposing and rather nondescript building. Nobody can recall the original purpose of this three floor, thirty room building. In its colorful history, it has changed hands many times through the years, seeing service as a boarding house, a bordello, a budget motel, and apartments, depending on local economic climate. (And cooperation from the zoning board, of course.)

Near the campus of Cal State and on three major bus routes, the majority of its current residents attend the university in one capacity or another. Bicycles can be seen secured to the balcony railings in front of apartment doors, or chained to the bike-racks angled across four of the 20 off-street parking spaces. Judging by the tracks in the layer of sand and dust, and the absence of cars in the lot, bicycles comprise most of the traffic to and from the apartment.

No kids. No pets. No smoking. No drugs. No loud music after 9pm.
No elevator. No spa. No exercise facilities. No private balconies. No valet parking.

No frills? No kidding!

Although none of the doors are numbered, one door does have what appears to be a Chinese character on it.
