Around Back

In a mesquite-bordered strip between the driveway and the house, a small bridge arches across the small "stream". The path meanders through clumps of tall pampas grass and a variety of ornamental desert flowers and shrubs, past a stone bench flanked by carved stone lanterns, beside a still "pond", and past a Joshua tree to a weathered gazebo. Wicker couches, chairs, and an end table provide a shaded place to sit and think.

Despite the constant hum of distant traffic, a feeling of solitude pervades the tranquility of the garden. Even the car port over the aging Volvo 240 station wagon does little to dispel the notion of being all alone in the middle of nowhere.

One exit from the back yard is across the bridge. The other is down the driveway.
