Mikkelus Vagus,
Field Medic
Bordestang
Off-Duty
Mikkelus appears most often as an unremarkable (App 2) elderly man. A
weathered soul, time and elements have deeply etched the lines in his features
and bleached his hair and beard to a salt-and-pepper mane. When traveling the
streets of the city, he can most often be seen wearing either fatigue style
clothing or a simple unadorned grey robe cinched around his waist by three or
four turns of his woven rope belt, a comfortably loose-fitting sign of
disregard for fashion. A voluminous ankle-length cloak billows around him as he
walks the halls and hillsides in sandal-shod feet, his trusty backpack slung
across his back and simple walking staff in hand.
On-Duty
Seen while on duty, Mikkelus wears a standard-issue field tunic and boots. Subdued
uniform devices include a messenger's staff and a field medic's badge, bearing
mute explanation for weaponry conspicuous by its absence to those understanding
the significance of those badges. The two readily identified tags read “Vagus”
and “Skye”.
Past
Mikkelus offers few clues to his origin, seldom substantiating or refuting
speculation from friends or acquaintances. He offers few if any explanations
for the oddly distorted images that most cameras pointed his direction capture,
when they can capture any image at all. Whether he comes from human, Nuwisha,
Fae, Malkavian, or from some other stock, he generally answers questions
concerning his origins with questions, with riddles, with metaphor, with a
silent and kindly smile, or with a glimpse into the depths of his eyes.
Present
Mikkelus claims to have originally come to the area to pick up merchandise
from an E-Bay auction; people tend to be where they need to be, when they need
to be there, though not always when they want to be there. Few people can say
for certain where he goes when he cannot be found socializing at the club, the
clinic, or the hospital, though rumors occasionally place him in the vicinity
of the crumbling ruins at the edge of town dating back possibly to the days of
the Roman Empire.
Though he claims to be a healer and combat medic as opposed to being a doctor, he has been seen working occasionally at the emergency room in the local hospital and in a private clinic. He attributes much of what he does and does not do professionally to the provisions of an oath that parallels the spirit of the Hippocratic Oath in many respects.
Future
"Life generally takes people where they need to be, when they need to
be there."
