Psionic Diagnosis

Mimicking the psychic ability, this effect allows the healer  to intuitively diagnose disease and injury in a person. This insight does not give the ability to cure the problem, nor does it always pinpoint the problem area, but it does allow someone with medical training (formal or otherwise) to suggest the most efficient cures.

By gaining consent and rolling additional successes, the healer can extend a limited diagnostic ability to a designated assistant. ) While a person without medical training might finds it difficult to explain what the problem is, they can effectively identify and rank the wounded (amount of damage, type of damage, whether or not the victim is stable). Depending upon approach, this delegation may or may not be considered vulgar.

The number of successes determines the accuracy of the diagnosis. If the psychic has medical training, the player may add any Diagnosis successes to the dice pool of a subsequent Medical roll.


Life reveals the overall condition of the afflicted area of the pattern.

When the procedure is followed up with standard medical treatment, each success adds one die to the medical skill pool.

If the diagnosis is immediately followed by more enlightened  medical treatment (i.e., healing with the Life sphere), each success lowers the difficulty for treatment (subject to the maximum of 3). An exceptional roll (of four or more successes) adds one additional die to the treatment roll.
