Long hailed by surgeons as cleaner and more precise than the scalpel, the laser is well documented in its ability to reshape tissue. In traditional roles such as treating baldness, cataract, retina repair, vision correction, unwanted hair or tattoo removal, or microsurgery, laser reduces recovery time and minimizes pain and discomfort. In more recent roles, medical laser treatment has proven effective in promoting bone growth, significantly reducing the healing time for fractures and minimizing muscle atrophy. At moderate settings, medical lasers painlessly cauterize broken blood vessels and seal open wounds.
Energy directs the laser beam. For the most severe of open wounds, Life downgrades the damage type; thus, lethal or aggravated fang or claw damage becomes becomes bashing damage (and bruises); bashing damage (bruises) may be healed normally or with additional laser treatments. For each success, reduce the severity of one die of damage by one health. Note that rolling four or more successes results will affect two health levels per success.
