Some hospitals have huge kitchens to make industrial lots of biological experiments to serve in the dreaded hospital cafeteria. Other hospitals have gourmet kitchens staffed by dieticians and chefs, catering to the dietary needs and whims of the elite. This kitchen isn't one of those kitchens.
This kitchen feels homey, with counters to work on, cupboards to store dishes, cabinets galore, and a walk-in pantry to stash foodstuffs. Pots, pans, and cooking implement hang from an oval two-tier overhead rack. Somewhat out of place, a commercial espresso machine commands most of one countertop. A side by side refrigerator, dishwasher, and four-plus burner gas stove stand ready to prepare a meal or a snack, as appropriate.
The pantry has been filled full of different coffees, teas, dehydrated fruits, and dried herbs. If hot drinks were a recognized food group, there would appear to be at least a year's supply.
Light filters in from a single large window, as well as through the sliding door in the adjoining dining room.
A hallway leads to the laundry room. door leads back to the lounging area. The large window leads to an outside staircase or fire escape.
