At the top of the stairs, something about the space here feels a bit less clinical, a bit more personal and lived-in than the rest of the building. Perhaps it's the open and page-marked books, biographies of inventors and researchers like Royal Rife and Nicolai Tesla? Or the rumpled fuzzy blanket and cushions on the papasan chair?
This room has been comfortable furnished with a oversized double papa-san and a pair of Morris chairs surrounding a low table. A compact stereo on a small bookcase plays a random selection of Celtic and New Age instrumental music. Unlit votive candles in holders have been strategically placed throughout the apartment, though sunlight pours through windows and skylights into the den during the day.
An arched doorway down the short hall leads into what appears to be a bath
and a bedroom. Another door opens into the master bedroom. Stairs descend back
down to the reception area.
