Arching gracefully over the path, this tree has been the downfall of more than one unwary rider. The Irish Sport Horses know it well, having learned that if they lose a rider here, they get to go back to the stables. The sturdy Conamarra ponies know it too, having firgure out the only way THEY get a short trip is if they move more to the side of the trail.
Fortunately, the mandatory wear of riding helmets has thus far prevented anything more serious than wounded pride and bruised dignity, among other things.
The main trail curves slightly to the northwest or heads south. A much less travelled trail forks off to the northeast, toward the sound of running water.
