A gentle, ever changing succession of lilac, magnolia, jasmine, lotus, and moonflower lightly scent the fresh night air. Occasionally, a faint tang of wood smoke touches the senses, and the barest hint of laughter, whether heard or imagined, lingers amongst the quiet call of birds and insects in the night.
A vast green lawn stretches beneath the the outstretched branches of gnarled
oak, maple, elm, and chestnut trees. The lush blades tickle bare ankles with
their cool and feathery touch. From the branches above can be heard the
occasional sleepy murmur of unseen forest creatures, aware yet undisturbed by
the few people walking across the grass. A dimly flickering light
can be seen to the east.
