Instant Karma Switch
*** Correspondence, *** Time, * Life, * Entropy, ** Prime
They say that we harvest the fruits of the acts we sow: some return threefold, some fivefold, and some sevenfold. Unfortunately, the karmic harvest takes time to grow and ripen; knowing that the misguided soul tap-dancing on your skull will eventually get back much more than the concussion he gave isn't much consolation at the time he's busily rearranging your facial features. As in most cases of delayed gratification, that far-off karmic payback does little to allieve any suffering here-and-now; most victims would prefer to avoid attack, and perhaps arrange for the attacker to sample his own bitter medicine.
While the most gratifying method of dealing with an assailant may be to send them off to an immediate rendezvous with their karmic reward, the sudden disappearance of that person (or persons) bent on causing mayhem can cause some rather nasty repercussions. A less flagrant means of dealing with assailants than sending them to their karmic reckoning day, this defensive rote appears to coincidentally turn an attack into a series of ackward, off-balance blows or catastrophic malfunctions.
In actuality, this rote essentially causes the attacker to momentarily trade places with the victim at the instant of impact, visiting all the damage done back on the originator. It then returns attacker and victim to their original places, nearly instantaneously, leaving a slight feeling of disorientation in its wake.
Note that this rote, as do others of the "karmic retribution" variety, precludes the use of offensive actions or magicks. ANY attack or offensive action taken while under the protection this rote, whether or not that attack succeeds, negates any protection offered.
Correspondance causes the attacker and victim to trade places. Time helps mask the process, making transferrances near-instantaneous. Entropy and Life set the trigger parameters. Prime sustains the effect.
