Deportation - (Ride the Ki-Rin)
(***)
Roll: STA + Occult
Casting time: 10 minutes+ for ritual and
hanging the rote; 3 turns normal casting
Ritual
Difficulty: 9
Ritual Threshold: 5 successes
This ritual finds use primarily as a defensive means to dismiss potential adversaries without damaging them.
This ritual instantaneously carries the target to a predetermined, well known,
and presumably safe (though not necessarily convenient) location. This location
must be specified when the ritual is performed and cannot be a closed and locked
area. While it might be fun to fantasize about teleporting someone into a locked
jail cell, getting them through the locked door simply is not practical for a
number of reasons; that is one reason, among others, that this ritual is not
called "Go Directly to Jail!"
The ritual varies from the "Get Me the Heck Outta Here!" ritual, on which it is based, in the following regards. First, since the target is not the caster who wants to be somewhere else, most potential attackers can be considered unwilling targets with a resulting +2 adjustment to difficulty. As this would result in an adjusted difficulty of 10, the "rule of 9" applies: the is modified to 9, and the new threshold increases 4 to 5. (Or 6 for the farthest target)
