Ashford Castle Bridge

Spanning the river Cong at Ashford Castle, this sturdy stone bridge is generally closed to vehicular traffic by a barrier system, with five eight inch steel posts rising three feet up out of the road to block the approach through the eastern gateway.

The bridge is, however, open to pedestrian traffic, equestrian traffic, and bicycle traffic, as the bridge is one of the major crossover ponts between the east bank trail and the west bank trail.

The stone riverfront along the east bank provides numerous places to tie off boats.

A broad path, labelled Cong, leads to the north. The main road leads back to the east. The bridge crosses the river to the west.
